DMTC is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Health Security Systems Australia (HSSA), a division of DMTC, and Biointelect Pty Ltd.
The partnership will boost Australia’s resilience and preparedness for current and emerging health threats through enhanced cooperation and coordination. It will explore opportunities to support infectious disease innovations with local and global health security impact, and technologies with dual civilian and military applications. Clearer, more efficient product pathways - from research and development to commercialisation and end-user adoption - will be a key focus.
Australia’s ability to anticipate, detect and respond rapidly to these threats hinges on ensuring research, industry, government and end-user capabilities are connected and ready to turn innovation into practical solutions.
Harry Baxter, Head of HSSA, said the agreement allows both organisations to explore how best to combine their complementary capabilities to support and strengthen Australia’s national health security.
"Global health security is an urgent challenge, and two recent severe bacterial outbreaks in Northern Australia show we cannot be complacent. Australia's ability to respond requires collaboration across government, research, industry and the broader innovation ecosystem. This agreement enables HSSA and Biointelect to explore opportunities to combine our capabilities for national benefit."
"We are particularly excited about the opportunity to strengthen pathways between research, capability development, commercialisation and end-user needs, helping ensure promising Australian innovations have the greatest possible opportunity to create real-world impact."
