DMTC is actively contributing to this future by fostering a pipeline of diverse and innovative STEM talent in collaboration with our industry and university partners.
DMTC’s investment in students and early career researchers (ECRs) goes beyond academic excellence, placing strong emphasis on broad professional development and industry skills that complement their deep technical expertise. This ensures that students and ECRs are equipped to deliver impact and drive change in current and future workplaces.
Through our Industry Capability Development Program – which aims to support digital uplift amongst Australian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – DMTC offers internship opportunities to undergraduate students studying engineering, computer science, and software development disciplines. These internships are mutually beneficial to both student and SME: students gain hands-on experience and career insights, while industry partners benefit from the students’ fresh perspectives and technical know-how as they embark on their digital transformation journey.
Many students supported through DMTC programs have successfully transitioned into careers in the defence and adjacent sectors, progressing into postdoctoral research roles or professional positions in industry.
