DMTC designs and manages multi-party science and technology, R&D projects and programs that de-risk and expedite adoption of new technologies, innovations and capability solutions to rapidly address ‘needing edge’ defence capability and sustainment challenges.

Through these collaborations with government, industry and the research sector, DMTC fast-tracks technology readiness level (TRL) progression, benefiting government stakeholders by rapidly industrialising novel, asymmetric capabilities. Customers across government also gain from the sum of accumulated historical and institutional knowledge and capability reposed in DMTC, reducing the need to start from scratch or repeat previous activities.
